ELTERNTREFF leukämie- und tumorerkrankter Kinder e.V. The heart of the association’s work is the voluntary work of the “ward mothers” (formerly affected mothers of children who are now healthy) on the oncology ward K41 in the Dortmund children’s clinic. In addition to supporting hospital-based, patient-oriented projects, one of the most important tasks is to provide financial help to families who are in dire straits due to a child’s cancer. Education, advice and information, as well as the various annual community events for affected families and young cancer patients, are an integral part of the association’s work. The guest house is an initiative that offers hospitable space in Dortmund for the homeless, homeless people and people on the poverty line from which they are not expelled, but rather are welcomed.
